The Subway Tee: The Meaning

Yoooooo, what’s good Wise Mind Movement. Just wanting to drop in and give you the back story to the brand’s latest release of “The Subway Tee.”

Obviously the tee looks like a typical subway sign that you’d see around New York. Not a coincidence that this tee was inspired by my latest trip to New York. While there I was able to link up with family and that had to be the dopest thing about the trip in general. Simply for the fact that since moving to CA, there is nothing I miss more than family. This place offers a lot, but family is just something you can’t replace. I had such a great time with my siblings, dad, uncles, aunts, and grandparents that I wanted to create a tee from that energy.

Resorting back to the “Family First” staple we implemented into the brand back in 2014. I didn’t want this to be a collection however I wanted it to be a little piece, kind of like a small conversation. So obviously that is implemented to describe the name of a location, which on most Subway signs the first line is a description of where your going. So with that being said, seeing Family First on the tee is to act a constant reminder towards what’s most important in life. The people that you love unconditionally and bring energy into your life. Aside from the reminder I implemented 501/808 Oakwood Ave. into the next line as being the address that highlights the most “family” aspects of my life. When I first moved to North Carolina from Japan, we lived at 501 Oakwood Ave in Jacksonville, NC. (shoutout to Brynn Marr lol) I still remember the day we picked out the house and everything. As the years passed we then moved down the road to 808 Oakwood Ave. Both of these addresses are filled with both good and bad memories of my upbringing, but regardless of it all I’m super fortunate for the experiences and the things that make me who I am. I’d rather be a man of substance than just a straight forward living being. So those addresses, remind me of why Family is First. Essentially those moments birthed Wise Mind Movement years later. Under that line you’ll see 9 1 0 (the area code to everywhere I lived in NC). Those are filled with the color “Carolina Blue” as homage to our brand’s birthplace. Followed by the WMM original logo.

All in all this tee is not only an important reminder to yourself, but the blank tee we used is comfortable enough to where it reminds me of the comfort one should feel when with or around Family.

Much Love and Stay Wise!
