RECAP: A Family Function
Fayetteville, Fayetteville, Fayetteville……the birth place of Wise Mind
Extremely appreciative for y’all pulling up on us on 9/20, especially those that traveled from outside the city to come show love. I wanted to put out this blog to express my overall thoughts on what September 20th meant. I do also plan on putting out another blog about the whole week post-anniversary.
I’ll start off by first stating that June 11th is the brand’s anniversary. Originally we had this event slotted for June, however, we were in the midst of a collab project with CJ Monét. So we knew we wanted to move the date, but we didn’t want to go into 2027 without doing something for the community we built within the brand. We’ve never had an anniversary gathering due to either feeling like the brand wasn’t quite ready to do it at the level we wanted or we had other things going on. One day Ash brought up the idea of doing it the week we were already going to be in NC for the final stop of J.Cole’s “The Fall-Off Tour.” With the show being on the 23rd and us arriving in NC on the 18th, I thought it was a great idea. We could have it early enough in the trip so that our energy after the anniversary event could be given to the city by showing up to events that were taking place and spending time with people as much as possible.
I’m not going to lie, a lot of time & money went into making September 20th happen. It was all worth it in the end though. I seen it as our way of giving back to those that have rocked with us for so long or are new to the brand. With that being said, to those that volunteered their time and/or services, I can’t thank you enough. It helped more than you’d even understand. People may ask why we went all out or didn’t charge for certain things, but to me the answer is simple. Most of y’all have shopped with us for YEARS and the purpose of this event was meant to be more so of a “Thank You” for that vs. just a pop-up for a new drop. I’m a firm believer that REAL love goes a long way. These days the world is infested with fake love. Love that’s only given when people want you for your resources or what you can do for them. Love in which you can spot the motive a mile away. For me, this event was meant to be relaxing for our community. To be able to come and have a good ass burger/meal from Ikey’s for free. To have yourself a lil drinky drinky from Azi Sazi for the free.99. To take home a little keepsake item via a Polaroid from Croo Studios. Side note, Polaroids are expensive as hell lol. But yea, a space that was relaxing and offered our people an experience for the free. Obviously, you could shop the brand if you wanted to, but that wasn’t the main purpose. We were completely cool with people enjoying the free things and not buying Wise Mind.
When I sum up that day and think about it while looking through videos and photos, I’m like “damn…..this is beautiful.” It really feels like family, it is family. Not only did we have our families pull up, but a lot of you all have your own families that you came with, and thats so dope. Friends kickin it with friends that either they haven’t seen in a long time, or maybe the only time they kick it is when they’re working. So to have a chill and relaxed environment full of love, laughter, and genuine interactions is all I could ever ask for. The day’s purpose was definitely fulfilled. I say this all the time, but I do not take people’s time for granted. At life’s core, time is more valuable than anything. So for yall to give me your’s on that special day, it meant more than words can express. This being our 1st Family Function, we only look to build on it for the next one. Overall I feel like the day went amazing, I feel blessed to be in a position where we were able to do that, and if I could……I would’ve had a second Ikey’s burger 😂.
Often times brand owners got the game messed up, they spend more time complaining about the people that aren’t supporting them. From day one I’ve believed in using that energy to pour into the ones that DO support. The ones that do show love, that do show up, that do rep the brand, and that do speak highly of the brand. If you focus on the good, the positives, you really don’t have the time in your day to address anything else. Some may say that’s easier said than done, but it aint. It all starts with YOU. If people aren’t supporting you the way that you would like, look inward. Adjust your approach, shift your focus, or come up with a better strategy for growth. Trust me, love in the right places goes a long way when pure. Your community can feel love, they can sense when something is genuine. The energy we give will live on past us and the legacy will forever be cemented in the people.
If I forget you I apologize, but a special shoutout to everyone involved in making the day possible: Amanda, Christian, Grant, Donnie, Lopez, Zay, Co, Trent, Mikey, Zester, JPeg, Nick of Visionaries, Twan, Jo, Charles, Johnathan, Alex, my Uncle Carlos & cousin Caitlyn, Mark, Dee’Anna, Quez, Dolph, Johnny, Dani, Al, my Mom + Dad, Marc with Ikey’s burgers, Sazi of Azi Sazi, Croo Studios, Ms.Patsy of Thirsty Gamers, Derrick of BSP, and lastly the two major pillars of this shit; Collyn & Ash.
I can promise you that we will not be restocking the FAYETTEville Tee with the street names on the back in chrome. That tee is special to those that pulled up on 9/20, we look to do more drops like this in the future. We will be taking a step back from that tee concept for some time, a year at least, maybe two. We like to let concepts breathe and not get burnt out. With that being said though, we have some new stuff/ideas that are next level, can’t wait to let yall see what’s to come. Not sure if I’ve ever mentioned it here, but join our community channel for behind the scenes on new pieces, free stuff, and promos: La Casa de Wise Mind 🏡
Love yall always 🧡
